Disneyland Food

There are all the cliche Disneyland foods that people love:
Churros, Turkey Legs, Gumbo, Fried Chicken from the Plaza, Corn Dogs from Coke Corner, and Pineapple Dole Whip. (we even went around the room and talked about how favorite foods in one of our orientations and the things mentioned above were all that people talked about.)

So I went on a mission to eat new things at Disneyland.  I wasn't as successful as I had hoped but I did try some new things I am excited to share.

1. The Village Haus in Fantasyland.  I had two things that were killer.


BLT Flatbread Pizza - Thin Flatbread Crust, Cherry Wood-smoked Bacon, Mozzarella Cheese, Caramelized Onions, and Marinated Tomatoes topped with Arugula and Shaved Fennel

Apple and Cheddar Salad - Blend of Red and Green Apples, Cheddar Cheese, Fresh Greens, Craisins® Dried Cranberries, Golden Raisins, and Candied Walnuts with Honey-Yogurt Dressing

2. Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country.
On one of my many Disneyland tours they told us to send gusts to the Hungry Bear if they are looking for healthier meals.  So I went to check that out.  I had previously eaten the crispy chicken sandwich and the turkey provolone so I decided to try something completely different, and it was delicious!

Fried Green Tomato Sandwich - Cornmeal-crusted Fried Green Tomatoes layered with two slices of fresh Heirloom Tomatoes topped with Havarti, Rémoulade, Jicama-Mango Slaw and served on a Multi-Grain Roll

3. Blue Bayou Restaurant in New Orleans Square
I hadn't been to this restaurant in 15 years.  I had heard the food was not that great especially for the price.  I figured it was time to check it out again since we had our discount.  I was blown away by the food.  It was way better than I expected.  Possibly the best salmon I've ever had....

Pregame - delicious sour dough rolls and rosemary bread and an unreal salad.
 I figured this was the time to try the Mint Julip.  Honestly........... not my favorite.  But who knows, I might be weird.


Pan-seared Blackened Salmon - Cajun-spiced, served with Herb Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, Tomato-Caper Relish, and Basil Beurre Blanc with Blue Bayou House Salad
My friend got:
Le Special de Monte Cristo Sandwich - Turkey, Ham, and Swiss, battered and fried to golden brown, served with a Fruit Skewer with a Blue Bayou House Salad.
The monte cristo is practically the same as the one in Cafe Orleans except the fruit skewer with crazy different fruits like goose berries! and more delicious dipping sauces particularly the vanilla cream... yum.....



The rest I've had many times before but I had throw them in again because I don't think they get the credit they deserve at Disneyland.

4. Bengal Barbecue in Adventureland.

Banyan Beef Skewer - hot and spicy



5. Cafe Orleans in New Orleans Cafe (Still probably my favorite)


Hands down the best $10 soup ever.
French Onion Soup - Sautéed Onion Medley in traditional Broth with Crostini and Melted Gruyère

And of course....... Clam Chowder Bread Bowl and of course the pretzels.....

And now I am starving.
