My Weekend as a Hipster

Well... I'm sure you probably won't be very surprised to hear what happened this weekend. You'll actually be less surprised than I would have been if you told me Thursday... Or even Friday morning.

So Friday I woke up so sick and my migraine was so bad I couldn't get out of bed. I tried numerous times but finally I called my school and got a sub. (talk about an awesome job... Subbing for a student teacher means sitting and watching all day). Anyways around 10 am I finally woke up with the a horrible headache and decided I needed my mommy. So I put on the darkest sunglasses I could find and headed to Cedar. (with practically nothing packed)

I laid on my couch at home while my mom made me cauliflower soup. Life seemed as it should be when you are sick! But Chad had a convert Norwegian African Princess visiting and I had suggested we all go to Vegas so she could see Sin City and I could spend much needed time with a bestie... So although my head was killing we got in the car and headed to Vegas. I slept the whole way down. I woke up just in time to crest the hill and watch as we dropped into the sparkling skyline of Vegas. (I love that). I directed Chafd to get to my friend's house. Barby was trying to convince me to go out on the Strip with them that night. It was then and there that I realized two things:

1. My headache was FINALLY bearable.
2. I really don't like the Strip and the feeling I have after I've been there.
I looked at the beautiful African Princess in my front seat and realized on her first visit to America she doesn't need to walk down the Strip as much as she...You guessed it...She needs to go to the happiest place on Earth. So at 8 pm on Friday night I called my Aunt Raine and said "so I have some good news and some bad news... The bad news? 4 hours is pretty short notice". I laughed as I heard her yelling at everyone in the background., "Kristin's coming!!!"

(side note last Sunday when I WASN'T in CA my 3 year old "niece" I lived with last summer was riding to church and saw a girl running. Launa said, "there's Kristin!" no matter of convincing could make her believe it wasn't me. So she was pretty excited to see me Saturday morning.) (second side note. I saw a student at Disneyland. She didn't act shocked or even surprised! Her mom even said,"we wondered if we'd see you!")

So why did I turn into a hipster this weekend? Because I spent the last 40 hours in California with no clothes. So I had to borrow my cousins clothes. So I feel like if you are going to do something you might as well go big! I'm kinda in love with my new glasses.
