Life is one long weekend...

Just in case you want to know my three favorite rides... I got pictures at each. Thunder Mt. Splash and Tea Cups.
All 3 of us in one car of Thunder Mt. So fun!

Can not get enough of Lars' face.

The most beautiful beach day ever.
89 degrees
A slight cool breeze
Clear skies
Free parking
Thank goodness for Newport Beach

I didn't mean for these to be black and white, but they turned out pretty cute!  I LOVE the picture of the little Launa getting washed off.  Then Nils after his hard work on another fabulous castle.

Even this dragon baby is a dream at the beach.

This kid was made for the beach!

Then back to the happiest place on earth.

We have recently discovered the best kept secret about Disneyland.  The English Toffee rocks our socks.  Yes, we bought the last piece of the night.

I honestly can't get enough of this place.

My new motto for life.

Schnuckums new bestie.

I know I know, I promised to show you Schnuckums new home... but this will have to do for now.  You can find Garfield's blog here: Emmie.  I could not be more excited to live with her in our dream place!

Plastic smiles.... We all wear them. I wore a plastic smile today. But what makes me happy are those rare moments when someone allows true feelings to show. I've been watching a girl's plastic smile for over a month now and today she decided to be honest to the guy that has been stringing her along for months... She sent him a text that said,

"I say this with love, (insert anonymous guy's name here) I hope you drown."

I applaud this girl. If only we all could be a little more honest.

Wishing Well Update.

I now know, I gotta be more specific about what I wish for.

Wish me luck!

Irrigating Deserts.

The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles but to irrigate deserts. - C.S. Lewis

Whelp, today was the second day of school.  I've already had to use my teacher face.  I've already lost my voice.  And I've already had a parent go to the principal to complain about me.  Just another day in Jr. High.

But the best part is... I've already had probably 45 previous students come visit.  I can not even try to express how much I love seeing past students.  I can only try and compare it to other jobs... I'm sure it's the same feeling a farmer has after he's harvested a field.... or after an artist has sold a painting... or a doctor has saved a life.  When an old student comes to visit whether their words express it or not, the student is saying, "Miss Parson, you impacted me."  And as a teacher, that is what I strive for.

2 short stories:

One student that came to visit today, was an aimless lost punk failing all of his classes 9th grader, is now a senior and has joined the navy and has dreams, goals, and plans.  He said, "Today as a get-to-know-you activity the teacher asked us to write about our favorite teacher.  Then the teacher collected them and started reading them.  Miss Parson your name was on like every paper!  I hope you know without you there is no way I would have even stayed in high school."

When the principal came in the tell me about the parent that complained about me he said, "Just so you know, when she went around her neighborhood to complain about you... she told me that all her neighbors stood up for you. You've got quite the fan club."

Disneyland makes me happy.  Changing lives brings me joy.

That being said... count down to Disneyland 46 hours.

The Vegas

I LOVE THESE GIRLS!!!  So excited about this trip!
Why do I keep getting pictures with Yogurtland in one hand and a huge H&M bag in the other?

I might be obsessed with my new aviator glasses.
The outdoor mall was probably not the best idea when it was clearly over 100 degrees... so after a long nap we hit up the pool!
I really heart this girl..
The cutest lil girl ever!!
And then of course the Strip
Serendipity III

Dinner was DELICIOUS! (We got a delightful pesto pizza and a yummy apple salad) The Frozen Hot Chocolate on the other hand..... TOTALLY overrated... sorry, it's true.  I was

The Bellagio Conservatory

Although it can NEVER compare to World of Color... it still takes my breath away.

Always makes my heart melt...

Too lazy to find different shoes at the Meadow gas station!

I really heart her!

Love the Utah Sunset.

What a great weekend!

In a better place...

I know I keep talking about my last trip to Disneyland... but I figure it's time to mourn the loss of one of my favorite things.... my Cubs hat.  We had a lot of fun together, that hat and me.  We toured Chicago together, we camped together, we hiked together, we beached together, we covered bad hair days together... and we had some great times at Disneyland.  I am super bummed that my hat which fit like a glove has moved on... but I guess if I had to lose it... what better place for it to reside than the happiest place on earth.  I find comfort knowing it is in a much better place...

But for now, let's remember all the good times we had together.

My last picture with my hat...

Thank you for all the will be missed.

I know I get it from my mum.  Every time I leave Cedar she walks out with me... she hugs me... and she cries.  I love it.   I can't tell you the countless times I have left Cedar and cried until Parawon.

I knew leaving California after two months of livin' the dream would be just as hard.  I lived with my aunt and uncle and their children and grandchildren.  They always try and humor me and tell me that I am the party... but really I know it is them that make life so fun!  Right now I am just smiling as I remember all the fun times we had.  In particular one of the last nights I was there we were all sitting around in their living room... well sitting, singing, and dancing to "Put on your Sunday clothes" from Hello Dolly.  Or later that night when I came home from an eventful evening I ran up the stairs to find Brita, Nils, and Raine on their computers and when I told them how awesome my night was we all went around the room giving high fives like I had just won some championship...  Or another fun time was when we were all worried about me doing a really long hot run one Saturday.  I have been pretty injured and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it.  When I walked in the door they all came running in to hear me singing, "I could have ran all day, I could have ran all day, and still gone back for more.  I could have spread my wings and done a thousand things I'd never done before"  And within two minutes they were all dancing around singing with me.

Sure Disneyland, the beach, the GMR, Yogurtland, H&M, Dodgers games, wedding receptions, Angels games, art museums.... they were all really really fun but what made this summer so extraordinary were the people that I spent the majority of my time with.  Eating popcorn on Sunday, playing the radio game in the car, watching Swiss Family Robison, and the countless times of eating dinner on the back porch were just as fun.  I knew saying goodbye was going to kill me.  I mean don't get me wrong, I know I will be close to these people forever.  But we never step in the same river twice.  Life will never be exactly the same.  So Saturday morning after staying up until 2:30 in the morning, I woke up at 6:30 packed up my stuff and while everyone was sleeping I got in my car and started to pack out of the drive way.  As I was backing out Lars came out and raised his arm to say goodbye.  The sun was just rising and there were golden rays casting across him and the house behind him.  Tears streamed down my face as I drove away from 1123 Palm Tree Lane for the last time.

The Summer Finale!

The last thing I did in California was of course....Disneyland.
The Twelvesome at Pirates!

Searching for Nemo.

Let's just say there was a WALL of water at the end of this splash
At 12:30 AM. I heart Disneyland
But of course my favorite part is always the wishing well.
